Spring is here!!

The view from the kitchen window has changed, we took out 3 lilli-pilli trees, you can see just one remains on the right hand side of the picture, we have planted apple trees, 4 so far they are dwarf column type trees that grow straight upwards, above are strawberries in the baskets and parsley behind the trees and mini agapanthus in front, looking forward to watch this area mature, and hope we get some lovely apples next year.

Seed trays and some signs of growth
Sugar snap peas very sweet and tasty

Our dog wood bursting with new green leaves

 Silverbeet and shallots
 Rhubarb, yum

Glossy leaves of the beetroot, will be harvesting very soon

The glorious pink of the dwarf peach tree so bright
This is where the work has been going on, the old apple trees and an almond taken out, lots of muscle power, and now planted with citrus trees, broad beans and along the back fence are 8 raspberry canes..

A stunning display from the Camellia trees

Raspberries with heaps of growth already
Two cape gooseberries in the black pots
On the front garden the olives and artichokes growing well
A passion fruit growing up against the wall, and a persimmon tree, and the asparagus bed, showing signs of growth

Oranges, lemons and grapefruit picking for today

Silver beet, broccoli and red cabbage pickings

The new veggie bed has been planted with tomatoes and potatoes just a few bok-choy left at the back for some stir fries this week.

A busy weekend in the garden and many more to come this time of the year as we plan the seasons plantings and pickings.

Recent pics of kids..

Firstly a scarf that I am very proud to wear, hand made by Grace at her guides group, so bright and colourful and most importantly warm on these cold mornings, its made of felt with poppies and buttons sewn on the poppies...
Matilda way to big for her little bouncy chair has time on the floor now, and can flip over in an instant, has a kind of catterpillar crawl at the moment but doesn't get too far.....yet!
 Smiles.....

Chuckles.....
 She spotted her feet moving....
 Which was just so hilarious!....
phew worn out from all that...

George incoming here for a cuddle....

aahhh, can you see her hair getting quite whispy now....

Concentration as Grace completes her lego city marine police boat...

Couldn't decide which pictures to post so here they all are......more to follow.

Sand pit completed....

Today wasting no time at all, once a few bags of sand had been added, they took the bucket and spades up to the new sand pit area - a few more bags to be added tomorrow and it will be nice and deep for digging in then. Some sunshine would have topped it off it was a bit dull and chilly but they went to the sand pit and were still playing in it in the dark at 7pm, lots of fun had by all...

The border spade is one that is always used around the garden and belonged to my Grandpa.  The tree in front of the rock is a cherry tree so will provide some nice shade once it matures.
